Dr. Alieka Anderson: Teacher, Advocate, Leader

Dr. Alieka Anderson has been a constant presence and force in Clayton County for several years, consistently fighting for her constituents and community. She has served on the Clayton Center Board, the Clayton County Development Authority, the Housing Authority, the Clayton County School Board as a representative for District 8 and Vice Chair, and most recently on the Clayton County Board of Commissioners as a Commissioner for District 1. During this time, she has improved her community and the entirety of Clayton County, helping intClayton County Schools maintain their accreditation, instituting Trash Pick Up days for District 1 to keep our community beautiful, and hosting several community events to engage with the families of Clayton County.

Dr. Anderson holds an Ed. D. in (K-12) Educational Leadership from Argosy University. She also has a MA in instruction and a BA in elementary education. Dr. Anderson has experience as a teacher and administrator in K-12 education as an elementary school teacher and assistant principal. Dr. Anderson currently serves as an Instructional Support Specialist (ISS) in the DeKalb County School System. Dr. Anderson loves education and loves to see what other school districts around the country are doing therefore, she has serves as a team member and co-lead evaluator for AdvancED Engagement Review Team visits.

Dr. Anderson’s motto is “Train Up A Child in the Way He Should Go, And When He Gets Older He Will Not Depart From It.” Dr. Anderson embellishes this biblical proverb because she believes that education starts at home and through a positive link between home and school our children can grow up to become productive citizens in our ever changing society. Dr. Anderson is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In addition, she is a member of Traveler’s Rest Baptist Church in Morrow, GA and has one son, Brian Covington, Jr.
